MasterCard SecureCode is initiated on a retailer’s website and interacts with both the cardholder and their card issuer. When you come to pay, a pop-up window appears asking you to enter a unique, personal code that has been registered with your bank. The bank then authenticates your details and then performs the transaction and provides the electronic retailer explicit evidence of the online purchase. MasterCard SecureCode provides a new way for issuers to support Maestro debit transactions over the internet.
